I would love to see Stndrd have ongoing discussions with the client world as well. Many are thinking about or already sourcing direct. I represent clients who are starving for this information. I also am a member on the ANA commercial production committee ( ana.net), and know the group would appreciate the dialogue.

Thank you Shelley Landgraf

How do you accurately track time when working on mutliple projects? http://stndrd.org/discuss/discussion/21/how-do-you-accurately-track-time-when-working-on-mutliple-projects Mon, 14 Dec 2009 11:52:02 -0600 Dannis 21@/discuss/discussions I'd like to know if anyone has successfully implemented a way for people to accurately track time when working on multiple projects at one time. I find myself working on 3-4 projects at one time and may spend 2 minutes here, 10 minutes there, 5 minutes on another etc. within a given hour. I've looked at a number of "timers" that let people click a start and stop bottom for each project every time they work on it. Sounds great in theory, but it requires people to remember to click start and stop every time. As soon as people forget, the timers become useless. Time sheets almost always become "an estimate of time" in these scenarios.

Anyway, my question is: How do you accurately bill for time spent during production without creating an inflexible work structure?

"Process" http://stndrd.org/discuss/discussion/22/process Mon, 04 Jan 2010 13:24:51 -0600 Shane 22@/discuss/discussions As a traditional agency, like many others, we are constantly striving for great things on the Interactive/Digital/Social stage. We face the common issue of shoehorning our interactive work into a more traditionally understood process such as broadcast or print. We, and others, call this "integrated" but does it really leave us the room to devise elegant and useful solutions for telling a story on a digital platform? Furthermore, when digital is contained by a more traditional process do we lose some of the life that is the inherent in good interactive work? How are others meeting the demands for process while maintaining and nurturing the organic pulse of digital and social engagement?

Milestones and Process: Applied to Banner production http://stndrd.org/discuss/discussion/3/milestones-and-process:-applied-to-banner-production Thu, 19 Nov 2009 11:17:20 -0600 NicoleMuniz 3@/discuss/discussions A lot of interest has been coming in on how the process and milestones are made relevant and apply to banner jobs. My thinking is that there isn't necessarily a huge gap, if any gap at all.

The Process Milestones basically outline the Topline development process. Each job should have a specified development schedule that defines in detail each deliverable.

For instance, if you are working on executing a Rich Media Banner Execution, below might be some steps that are included within that production. Assuming that Phases 1 and 2 of the process are completed and that the project has been awarded...

3. Consolidation Pre-Production: For Banner Specific jobs, Pre-Production consists mostly of Technical Specifications. It is important to be completely aligned on the Lowest Common Denominator of Deliverables and all specs. (Media Buy should have been available pre-Award).

Prototyping: We recommend, not always mandatory, that the developer(s) have an opportunity to run prelimenary tests within the Rich Media Compionent working environment to confirm that the Creative/Concept is Production-ready. Questions here can range from Compression standards to k size limitations.

Feedback: Feedback is a Milestone in which, Client and Production Partners, can review the Pre-Prodction/Prototyping Learning's and make sure that they are moving forward into full development together.

So on and so forth...

During the last Phase, 4. Realization, the Offline and Online Mtgs are still key milestones where Work-in-Progress (WIP) and Final Reviews take place.

The addition I would make for Banner Deliveries is that this process/milestones would be applicable against an initial unit. Delivery would then consist of Re-sizing once an approved unit is ready to go.
